La Ferme des Trois Capucines – one of our favourites in Tignes
What: Authentic French mountain restaurant / farm / shop
Why: Delicious food, and a warm and welcoming ambience
Where: Route de la Ferme, Lavachet, Tignes
When: Tuesday to Sunday 12-1.30pm and 7-9.30pm. Closed Mondays.
La Ferme des Trois Capucines is one of the best restaurants we’ve tried in Tignes – it’s a farm, restaurant and shop all at the same time and is definitely worth a visit. Situated in the Lavachet area of Tignes, just a few metres from the Chaudannes and Paquis chairlifts, it’s very easy to access from Val d’Isere.
It’s a cosy and welcoming restaurant set in an authentic old farmhouse with a fireplace and lovely rustic French décor. The stables are next to the restaurant, and you can even hear the animals when it’s quiet! The family portraits hanging on the wall and old milk pails used to serve water all add to its friendly French charm.
Savoyard specialities are always on offer at La Ferme, with classics such as tartiflette, fondue, and raclette. They make their own cheese here during the summer months, so we decided to try the fondue made with a blend of their Beaufort and Compte, and it was superb – and very reasonably priced considering the quality and quantity. We also sampled a delicious café gourmand, and it did not disappoint.
There are specials menus featuring traditional French cuisine, and they have an extensive wine list offering many local and regional wines and champagnes to accompany your meal.
With everything on the menu homemade, from the cheeses to the breads to the desserts, and a small farm shop selling their summer produce such as Reblochon, Raclette, Tomme, jams and alcohol, La Ferme should be top of any food lovers list.

Run review:
OK, red run – it shares the top part with the Orange run, then splits and goes past the infamous Folie Douce restaurant down to La Dalle. A nice red with great views.
