With over 300km of groomed pistes and endless off-piste opportunities there is something for everyone.The altitude at the village base is 1,850m, making us one of the highest and most snow-sure ski resorts in France. Apart from the skiing there is dog-sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, paragliding, exploring the shops or just relaxing in your chalet, one of the spas or at your favourite mountain restaurant.

Val d'Isere

Skiing

Renowned for its extensive pistes and endless ski touring Val d’Isere offers some of the best skiing in the Alps. With a high percentage of black runs the resort is a destination for the experienced skier wanting to push themselves. However, the new beginners area at the top of the Solaise and the winding green and blue runs into La Daille provides a great place to learn. Based at the top of the Tarentaise Valley at 1,850 metres Val d’Isere is one of the highest and most snow-sure ski resorts in France. The season runs from late November through to the beginning of May.

Cross Country Skiing

For those who want a change of pace from alpine skiing or want to try something new Val d’Isere has three cross-country skiing areas in La Daille, the Manchet Valley and at the top of the Solaise around the Lac l’Ouillette. All the required equipment can be hired in the village.

Snow Shoeing

Skiing and Snowboarding are not the only ways to enjoy the Val d’Isere mountains in the winter. Snow shoeing the trails from Val d’Isere up to La Fornet or the Manchet valley have proved popular with our non-skiing guests or those wanting a break from the skiing. Dog Sledding

If you are wanting to experience the thrill of a traditional working dog sled this is an activity not to be missed. Located up in Val d’Isere’s Manchet Valley you get to meet the dog pack and musher before being whisked away for the ride of your life. Pedestrian Access to the Mountain

For anyone who doesn’t wish to ski, or just wants a day off, you can still access the mountain with a pedestrian pass. You can simply relax and enjoy one of the lovely mountain restaurants and make the most of the photo opportunities or access the groomed walking trails or snow-shoeing routes higher up the mountain.

Ice Driving

If you want an adrenaline-rush without the skiing, there is an ice driving circuit in La Daille where you can pit your wits against friends or family, with both driving and Go Karting on ice.

The Village

Val d’Isere village itself is a great place to spend time in when you’re not skiing. It boasts some great shops and restaurants, and is well-known for its vibrant apres-ski and nightlife. There are several luxury spas, a sports complex with swimming pool, and an ice-skating rink. The tourist office has a programme of the activities offered to entertain holidaymakers every week, highlights being the Christmas and New Year fireworks display, and torchlight descents by the ESF.
